I love a challenge. I relish the search for information that paves the way to a solution.

I love beautiful environments and the elements that come together to create them.

And I love a good story.

Which is why I’ve been marketing buildings, their contents and their designers and builders for several decades now.

See a selection of case studies here.

Read below to learn about my path starting in California real estate and making my way across the country to work for some of the country's most prominent established home and contract furnishings companies.

Carolyn is the type of creative problem-solver anyone would be fortunate to work with. Not only is she an excellent writer, she is a great sounding board who is ideal to collaborate with. She has produced terrific research and analysis that has guided decision-making and planning for several organizations. We have worked together on numerous projects over the years, and it is always a pleasure to work with someone who is as smart, reliable and talented as she is.

Growing up in Southern California, where real estate drives much of the economy, an entry level ad agency job almost certainly included a roster of builders, developers and architects as clients. Mine was no exception, and I spent several years marketing residential and commercial real estate in Los Angeles and surrounds, tallying up some serious mileage and earning a few industry honors in the process.

Anxious for more opportunity to work on a consumer-focused business and to try an urban lifestyle (really I just got tired of driving everywhere), I relocated to New York City and a boutique PR firm where I developed and managed a re-branding effort for Armstrong. Working closely with product managers and leading shelter publications, I decided I wanted the broader challenges of brand management and headed off to business school.

As a freshly minted MBA out of Columbia, I landed as a product manager at Maharam developing and launching new brands and products and producing strategic plans and industry overviews for one of the industry’s top textile firms.

After five years, I struck out on my own.

Since then, I’ve provided research and strategic planning on green marketing issues to Interior Design magazine and the Hardwood Manufacturers Association. I’ve helped leading contract manufacturers such as Knoll and Haworth build thought leadership and visibility by researching and writing case studies and white papers.

I’ve advised Holly Hunt and other foreign and domestic furniture manufacturers and sustainable building product companies on market opportunities and the competitive environment.

Based out of a sunny converted loft office in the Gowanus area of Brooklyn, I work with established home and contract furnishings companies and the occasional startup.

I’m passionate about design and am an enthusiastic patron of home tours, show houses, museum shows, design events and most any opportunity to peek in and embrace the beauty of an exquisitely designed space, public or private.

And when I’m not with my fellow voyeurs, chances are I’m on the tennis court or in the kitchen making way too many side dishes to feed my friends and family. I’m happy to pack the leftovers to go. After all, I’m just an F-train ride away.

Say hello.
